The Holy Bible: Catholic Douay Rheims Translation

Holy Bible to Download and Highlight

A Bible that becomes a Diary

of your Daily, Weekly, and Monthly, Journey with Christ Jesus

A Holy Bible that YOU can edit as you want

  • Edit it as you likefind and highlight important passages that are pertinent to you, and vital to your life in Christ as you confront daily challenges  to your Holy Catholic Faith.

  • You can “Find” any word or phrase in the entire Bible with a few clicks.

  • Highlight what is important to you in your present life in Christ and His Holy Catholic Church — passages that may be very important to you today but which may be off less importance to you tomorrow or next month in light of experiences, troubles, and difficulties that you may encounter tomorrow or next month in which case you can “un-highlight” whatever you had highlighted before — and then highlight something else.

It is TEXT that you can

    • Underline

    • or make  make bold

    • or italicize

    • or ALL FOUR — knowing that you can UNDO IT later. Annotate biblical passages with your own insights, especially as they pertain to the challenges that present themselves to you today or next week.

  • This absolutely free Bible is the Traditional Catholic Douay-Rheims Challoner Version, used by the Catholic Church for 2000 years.

  • It is the ENTIRE BIBLE (New Testament). The source of the original text is found at: https://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/1581/pg1581.txt

  • All typographical errors that occur in the original source have been corrected by us, inadvertent double-spaces have been eliminated, and formatting has been made consistent.

  • Archaic language is retained as in the original (e.g. “hath”, “endureth”, etc.) — which, if you wish to change to contemporary English (“has”, “endures”) — simply requires a “Find and Replace” (such as “Find what:” endureth and “Replace withendures) and Microsoft Word with the “Only Change whole word” checked, will change every instance of it in the entire document. Don’t like “hath”? Change it to “has”. Very simple: Open the Bible and choose Replace from the to top right menu:

Using Find and Replace in Microsoft Word

Be sure to put a check in the boxes “Find whole words only” first  ... and then   “Replace all” —  if you do not use “Find whole words only”,  you will change every word in the Bible that has “hath” somewhere in it the word, like “path” —  with some very bizarre results. But do not worry: if you find that you have done that before you “Save” the file, hit the “undo typing” button on the top left of your menu bar and all will be back to where is was before the blunder!

  • It is TOTALLY YOUR BIBLE! That is to say, while it is the original, authentic, and authoritative translation begun in 1610 at the English College at Douay, France — you can mark it up AS YOU CHOOSE — and then return to the original before you edited it. (after all, it is GOD’S HOLY WORD)!

The possibilities are endless: delete entire books you find unnecessary (e.g. one of the Gospels, or one of the Epistles) or just entire chapters, or verses,  keeping only a compact version that is vital to you alone.

    THIS BIBLE HAS:

  • NO distracting references

  • NO comments or commentaries

NO graphics (except one on the first page — and you can delete it if you don’t like it.

  • Just TEXT (the font by default is Times New Roman 14 black — but you can select the entire Bible and choose to use another Font, Font Size, or even Font Color)

  • You can “Find” any word or phrase in the entire Bible with a few clicks.

Choose your completely free download right below:  —  Together they comprise the ENTIRE NEW TESTAMENT

Christ admonished us: “Freely you have received; freely give” (Saint Matthew 10.8) You will not be asked for any information whatever: no forms to fill out, no name, address, telephone, etc. etc. It is totally free.

Click on each to see a page BEFORE your editing it and AFTER editing it

IMPORTANT — IMPORTANT — IMPORTANT!!! — FIRST MAKE A COPY of the original downloaded file and keep it safe somewhere.

You can always make another copy of the ORIGINAL (just RIGHT-click on the original and choose "copy” and paste it on your desktop and save it, we suggest, with the date appended to the copied file (e.g. “The Four Gospels - December 29 2020”) —   in other words, with the DATE you made the copy so that the original “Holy Bible” will remain unchanged and can simply be copied and pasted into a blank document that you will name with another date, as your journey with Christ leads you down new and unexpected paths which will lead you with the Holy Angels and Company of Martyrs to Heaven.

The Books included in the Catholic Douay-Rheims version (circa 1580) are the Gospel According to St.Matthew, Gospel According to St. Mark, Gospel According to St. Luke, Gospel According to St. John, Acts of the Apostles, Epistle of St. Paul to the Romans, Epistles of St. Paul to the Corinthians, Epistle of St. Paul to the Galatians, Epistle of St. Paul to the Ephesians, Epistle of St. Paul to the Philippians, Epistle of St. Paul to the Colossians, Epistles of St. Paul to the Thessalonians, Epistles of St. Paul to Timothy, Epistle of St. Paul to Titus, Epistle of St. Paul to Philemon, Epistle to the Hebrews, Epistle of St. James, Epistles of Saint Peter, Epistles of John, Epistle of Jude, Apocalypse. All included in your download.
